National Model United Nations Conference in New York
National Model United Nations (NMUN) Conference is hosted by the National Collegiate Conference Association (NCCA), which is a nonprofit corporation. It is held at New York Marriot Marquis Hotel, Sheraton New York Hotel and the UN Conference Rooms. This year, more than 5,000 college students ranging from the United States and European, Latin American, and Asian countries participated in NMUN Conference. All the participants represented the UN Member States or Non-Governmental Organizations, and debate at the model conference of 20 UN agencies and international agencies at each hotel’s conference rooms. Added to the conference, there were guest speakers on the third day of the conference, inviting the experts of the UN or other international agencies.
Every year, many conferences held at NMUN change from those which were held the year before, and the agenda items are also not the same with the real agenda items. At the NMUN Conference, participants discuss the remarkable agenda items. Each conference is not independent, and the members of delegations who attend the conferences concerned with one another confirm the recent situations and coordinate their national policies at any time. On the last day, the draft resolutions and reports that were adopted by each conference will be voted on again at the actual United Nations General Assembly Hall. After the voting is done, NMUN holds the Closing Ceremony at the UN General Assembly Hall as well.
This large-scaled conference is organized by the excellent secretariat staffs. Most staffs have actually participated in NMUN many times; therefore they have wonderful knowledge and experience related to Model United Nations. We are impressed by them of their high recognition and vast popularization of the activity of Model United Nations in the United Nations.
